April 2011
Red, White & Green

Thank you, San Francisco Bay Area!

WonderCon presented the 4th Annual San Francisco Bay Area International Children's Film Festival, April 2-4, 2010 at WonderCon at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco and April 10-11, 2010 at the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose.

Thanks for your support and the big turnout! It was a great time!

We screened more than 150 short films from around the world - animation, live action and documentary. Film screenings were free with admission to the venues.

WonderCon is Northern California's largest popular-culture convention, with more than 30,000 visitors. At WonderCon, the festival screened short films clustered for different age groups, toddlers through teens, all day Friday through Sunday April 2-4. We enjoyed animation, live action and documentary, plus filmmaker and actor appearances!

Admission to the children's film festival was free with admission to WonderCon. Children ages 12 and under are always free to WonderCon! Go to www.wondercon.org for more details on WonderCon.

The festival continued Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11, in the beautiful theater at the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose. More short films from around the world made for children - animation and live action. Admission to the film screenings was free with museum admission! For museum information, go to www.cdm.org

We again partnered with the San Francisco Women's Film Festival and screened several of our short films created by women animators and filmmakers at their festival on Sunday, April 11.

We also partnered with the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento for a simultaneous full day of screenings there on Saturday, April 10. Films for all ages were screened from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., and films for teens from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Screenings were free with museum admission. For more information, go to www.crockerartmuseum.org

In addition to our annual festival screening short independent films from around the world, we offer free screenings to major Hollywood studio films all year long! The San Francisco Bay International Children's Film Festival is an all-volunteer event, hosted by the non-profit arts organization WonderCon, and staffed by Bay Area parents, educators and professional and student filmmakers. The festival is dedicated to free screenings of quality films from around the world, with no ticket sales, corporate sponsors, grants or outside major funding. So how can you support us? Just show up! We seek to share these wonderful films with as many people as possible, gaining exposure for the filmmakers and promoting the idea of film as a valuable art form.

We work closely with the major studios, and also offer free screenings of major family films year-round in the Bay Area. Sign up for our Facebook page above or our e-mail list below and we'll send you free invitations throughout the year!

We look forward to the big 5th Annual San Francisco Bay Area International Children's Film Festival in Spring 2011, with more Bay Area venues added!
